A Month of Remembrance

Dear Friend, I thank the Great and Mighty God who has kept and sustained us thus far. My wife and I are fine and continue to thank God for His blessings that are new each and every morning.

Almost everyone I talked to in the past few days is mentioning how quickly this year has flown by. It’s like each one of them wished that the days went by slightly slower. As I was meditating on this, I heard in my spirit, Give Thanks. Remember the things God has done. So, friend lets spend this month thanking God. Let it be a month of Remembrance. Yes, some will be celebrating the thanksgiving holiday this month but as believers, let us embrace the whole month a Month of Remembrance.

The psalmist says in Psalms 100:4 “Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name. For the LORD is good; his mercy is everlasting; and his truth endures to all generations.”

Friend, from the above verse, we are made to understand some vital principles that will help us as we remember what God has done this month.

First, the psalmist says that we “enter his gates with thanksgiving”. This is clearly a powerful secret of entry into the heavenly gates of God. Thanksgiving! Elsewhere in Psalms 69:30-32 David says, “I will praise the name of God with a song, and will magnify him with thanksgiving. This also shall please the LORD better than an ox or bullock that hath horns and hoofs. The humble shall see this, and be glad: and your heart shall live that seek God.” Friend, praising God pleases Him and enables us enter into His gates. This actually pleases Him more than the sacrifices of oxen or bulls. Politely we are being told that the key to opening the gates of heaven is thanksgiving which is the same key for pleasing God.

The Psalmist continues to say that we should be thankful because of the Lord’s “mercy that is everlasting”. Looking back at this year, the Lord has done so much. Even when we seemed to waver, He accepted us because of His “mercy that is everlasting”. The storehouse of the mercy of the Lord never runs dry, what a Mighty God! May He help you to reflect and enable you to see and remember how much He has done for you. He truly has been a great blessing to me and I greatly appreciate what He has done. My prayer, which should be yours too, should be that, may I never cease to give you thanks O Lord.

The Psalmist tells us why we need to be thankful. He says that, we should be thankful because “the Lord is good”. In an era where good people are hard to find, God stands out. Even when one is going through the valley of shadow of death, God remains good. When your money almost ran out and you had nothing but some little change remaining, God remained good. When the future seems uncertain, He remains good. In-fact, there is no shadow of turning with Him. Friend, let us praise Him, for He is a good God. Can you remember instances when He has been good to you? Then let’s remember His goodness and give Him thanks.

The same verse also brings forth the next point about God’s truth; “his truth endures to all generations”. May His truth be our truth. All philosophies, good ideas, etc will fade away with time but God’s truth will remain for all generations. Let us celebrate the remembrance of His Word, His Word is truth. As each one of us, as we come in thanksgiving to the Lord, there should be no need to pretend – God sees all your actions from afar. Let us speak the truth, walk in the truth and let our testimony, seasoned in truth, be a blessing to all in Jesus Mighty Name, Amen.

Finally, I pray that the Lord, will help us to step into and enjoy the art of thanksgiving. I pray for a Spirit of thanksgiving to be poured upon you. I pray for an overflow of a thankful heart. I pray for a spirit of remembrance to overflow over your life in Jesus Mighty Name, Amen. The Psalmist David said, “How precious to me are your thoughts, O God! How vast is the sum of them! Were I to count them, they would out number the grains of sand” (Psalm 139:17-18). God has done too for you; remember this and give Him thanks. Giving thanks will pour fuel to the miracles that He has set in motion for us. Friend, pick up each day a few items that He has done for and give Him thanks.

Let this be to you a Month of Remembrance of the good thing and call on God in thanksgiving. This will make more gates open for us.

Be blessed,

Bro Chester
