The wicked shall not prevail over you

Saul was afraid of David because the Lord was with David but had left Saul. (I Samuel 18:12).

God had asked Saul to go and totally destroy the Amalekites. He was specifically instructed not to spare anyone or anything but to put to death men and women, children and infants, cattle and sheep camels and donkeys (1 Samuel 15:3). Saul did not obey God’s word in its entirety but took Agag King of the Amalekites and the best of the sheep and cattle, the fat calves and lambs, everything that was good (1 Samuel 15:9). As a result of his disobedience, God rejected Saul and the kingdom was taken from him. God then told Samuel, the prophet, to go and anoint David, the son of Jesse, king over Israel. The Bible says that immediately David was anointed, the spirit of the Lord came upon him in power (1 Samuel 16:13).

With the anointing of the Lord upon David, it was no wonder that he was able to accomplish mighty deeds, including the slaying of Goliath.  Whatever Saul sent him to do, David did it so successfully that Saul gave him a high rank in the army which pleased all the people including Saul's officers. David’s accomplishments soon began to make Saul jealous and before long Saul was attempting to kill David but he never succeeded because David always managed to escape. The Bible says Saul was afraid of David because the Lord was with David. Saul could not harm David because God’ hand was upon him.

The Lord is with all those who have acknowledged Him as their Lord and Saviour and who are walking according to the Word of God. We have been sealed and marked by the Holy Spirit and just as God was with David then, He is with us today. The presence of the Lord will be so manifest in our lives that those who hate us and wish to do us harm will not be able to succeed and they will be afraid of us just as Saul was afraid of David.

Friend, the Word of the Lord says that the rod of the wicked shall not rest upon the lot of the righteous……..(Psalm 125:3). In other words, the plans and the schemes that the  wicked ones devise against the children of God shall not succeed. They will fail and fear shall be upon them. In fact, the Bible says God thwarts the plans of the crafty, so that their hands achieve no success.

Prayer: Lord, thank you for hand of protection that is upon us. Thank you for shielding us from our enemies who seek to do us harm. May they never prevail against us. Let your hand be so evident upon us that they will be afraid of us and flee. We thank you and we bless you in Jesus Precious name we pray. Amen and Amen.
