MARCH – A Month of Prayer & Fasting
As Believers, one of the tenets of our faith is that Jesus Christ was not only crucified but that He rose from the dead. Paul says “But if there be no resurrection of the dead, then is Christ not risen: And if Christ be not risen, then is our preaching vain, and your faith is also vain. Yea, and we are found false witnesses of God; because we have testified of God that he raised up Christ: whom he raised not up, if so be that the dead rise not.”
(1 Corinthians 15:13-15 KJV)
With this great assurance in our hearts, let us dedicate this month to prayer and fasting. Let us ask God to crucify all that is in us that does not conform to His will and above all let us ask Him to cause everything that He desires in us to be resurrected. Let us ask the Father, who is very willing to hear and answer us, to pour on us a spirit of prayer, a spirit of intercession and a desire to be life givers to a dying generation.
As we pray and fast, I see God doing for us extraordinary things just as He did with the following. Expect a visitation!!
(The Joshua sanctification)
In Joshua 3:5, Joshua tells the children of Israel to sanctify themselves for the Lord will do wonders among them. God is willing and very ready to do wonders in our midst. I believe that as we sanctify and humble ourselves through prayer and fasting we will be setting ourselves up for God to use us in an even greater dimension. God will release power from on-high on our behalf. This is power to possess that which God has earmarked for us to inherit.
- Power over principalities
(The Daniel fast)
When Daniel fasted in Daniel 10, there was a release of supernatural help from heaven to destroy the principalities that were ruling over his region and holding his blessing. When we fast, cities, villages, nations, ministries, families, will be set free from bondage and oppression.
(The Paul kind of fast)
When Saul had an encounter with the Lord, he became blind. This encounter is narrated in Acts 9. After three days of prayer and fasting, Ananias came and prayed for Saul and the Bible says it was as if scales fell from his eyes and he regained his sight. He who was blind to the things of God could now see. With this kind of prayer and fasting, your family members who are blind to the Gospel shall see in Jesus Mighty Name. Amen.
(Jesus instructed fast)
In Matthew 17 we read about the man whose son was “epileptic and suffered severely.” The man had brought his son to the disciples to heal him but they could not. When the man brought his son to Jesus the boy was instantly healed. Later the disciples asked Jesus why they could not heal the boy. Jesus replied “Howbeit this kind goeth not out but by but by prayer and fasting.” (Matthew 17:21 KJV). In other words, some demons cannot come out but by prayer and fasting. Friends, it is only by prayer and fasting that some of those who are oppressed among us will be delivered.
Let us pray:-
Father, thank you for your goodness and your mercies that are new each and every morning. We are grateful that you have kept us thus far in this year, 2005. Lord, this month is declared a month of prayer and fasting; we know that by our own strength we cannot make it but by your help it will be easy. We ask the Holy Spirit to help us in Jesus Mighty Name, Amen. Father we ask for wisdom to appropriate power from on-high, to tread on serpents and scorpions and over all the power of the enemy and we know that with your help, nothing shall by any means harm us. Increase our prayer and intercessory life; mold us to be soldiers that are pleasing in your sight. Make us more like you. Dear Lord, remove all the scales that are hindering us from seeing your divine will in our lives. Thank you for divine revelations, divine insights and divine accomplishments as we undertake this fast this month. Show us how you want us to do it and Father and give us the necessary strategies to accomplish it, in Jesus Mighty Name, Amen. Finally Father, please pour out your Spirit afresh upon us in Jesus Precious Name, Amen. Thank you, for the uncommon results that will come from this month of prayer and fasting in Jesus Name, Amen.
