A Month of Comfort

Greetings in Jesus Precious Name.

We bless the Lord for bringing us safely to the beginning of this last month of the year. I trust that you and your loved ones are well. My wife and I continue to praise the Lord and thank Him for His loving kindness and tender mercies towards us.

When God placed in my heart that November would be a month of remembrance, little did I know that my mother would go to be with Lord in November; (She was taken to glory a few days ago).  As I sat in the house contemplating on this month’s Online Word, and all that has happened, the Lord began to whisper comforting words to me.

Friend, I see this month as A Month of Comfort.

The year is coming quickly to an end, resolutions, desires, aspirations and many other things you may have anticipated or planned for perhaps have not yet come to pass and you are wondering. God is saying, be comforted in Jesus Mighty Name, Amen. It may be that a dear one, as in my case, has unexpectedly graduated to glory land, God is saying, be comforted. Each one of us has his or her own peculiar situation or circumstances because God, in His infinite wisdom, has designed each and every one of us differently.

Sometimes the things that happen are unexpected and may seem unfair. However, we must encourage ourselves and remember that God is a just God and that His ways are far above our own. The Bible says in Isaiah 55:9 “For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways, and My thoughts than your thoughts.” In such situations, like Jesus we should simply say “Father, if thou be willing, remove this cup from me: nevertheless not my will, but thine, be done.” (Luke 22:42). After all God has told through the Apostle Paul, “And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.” (Romans 8:28)

The children of Israel were told to eat bitter herbs on the Passover night as they left Egypt (Exodus 12:8); many did not understand but they obeyed. Isaiah 53:3 describes Jesus as “despised, and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and as one from whom men hide their face he was despised; and we esteemed him not.” We see God working here in ways we cannot understand.

Friend, I do not know what it is that has come your way and what you may be going through right now but we have a blessed assurance in 1 Corinthians 10:13 that “There hath no temptation taken you but such as man can bear: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation make also the way of escape, that ye may be able to endure it.” With God on our side, He will comfort us by ensuring that there is a “way of escape”.

The Bible continues to speak to us about God’s eternal comfort in 2 Thessalonians 2:16-17 saying “Now our Lord Jesus Christ himself, and God our Father who loved us and gave us eternal comfort and good hope through grace, comfort your hearts and establish them in every good work and word.” Amen.

Friend, I urge you to be rest assured in this Month of Comfort that The Lord Jesus Himself will comfort your heart in every area that you need to be comforted. Remember that He knows all that you are going through. You will overcome. Like David, declare in your heart - “My flesh and my heart faileth: but God is the strength of my heart, and my portion for ever.” (Psalms 73:26)

Let us all be comforted,

Bro. Chester
